The Highlands Power Center Wins Award

M+A Architects' project, The Highlands Power Center was awarded Third Place in the Architect category in the 2009 Retail Design Competition held by the Mid Atlantic Real Estate Journal (www.MAREJournal.com).

Located right outside of Wheeling, West Virginia, The Highlands Power Center was developed by the Ohio County Development Authority to bring in jobs to the community and stimulate the economy of the area by creating a retail center to increase the sales tax base in Wheeling.

Surrounding the power center, which M+A designed, are a Cabela's store and warehouse, a JC Penney, Kohls, and many more stores and restaurants. The project was designed using architectural features reflecting the earthy wood and stone aesthetics of the outdoor outfitter Cabela's store. This design brought a unique aspect to the traditional strip retail concept seen the surrounding region.
